Very Vintage Vendors: South Auckland Federation of WI

Introducing South Auckland Federation of WI to VVDO2018!

Sarah Crookes of South Auckland Women’s Instititute

Country Women’s Institute began in 1921 and remains relevant today for women in town and country communities.

WI is a place for all women to come and meet likeminded women, to support each other and support the community around you.  A place where in this modern world we as women can take some “me” time.  No one is expected to do more than they feel they can.  We get to make new friends, develop new skills and support our family and community while having a lot of fun.

They will be at VVDO 2018 with lots of pretty for sale, petticoats, scarfs, knitted coat hangers, organic dish clothes and vintage themed cards.

Very Vintage Vendors: Rosemary’s

Rosemary is a one-woman business which has been designing and producing hotrod, rock ‘n roll, and Kiwiana themed men’s and boy’s shirts for 2 years.

She cuts and sews all of her shirts from her studio in the Waihopai Valley, Marlborough, New Zealand.

Ladies… check out the new handbags Rosemary is making!

Fully lined and beautifully detailed these fabulous handbags will be available on Rosemary’s stand for the first time at The Very Vintage Day Out on 3 & 4 November.

The handbags are all made with recycled denim and/or leather and lined and detailed with fabric left over from the shirts.

Be sure to check out this proud kiwi, who’s shirts and handbags reflect both the fifties and kiwiana!

Very Vintage Sponsors: Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum

The Very Vintage Day Out team are pleased to announce that Miss Pin Up New Zealand 2017 is being brought to you in association with ‘Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum‘ and we look forward to building a strong relationship between the two brands.

The father of old-school tattooing, Norman “Sailor Jerry” Collins was an innovator and a true independent spirit whose work is still revered today.

Sailor Jerry Spiced bears the man’s signature because we believe in the old-school values of independence, hard work and unyielding standards of his craftsmanship. It all comes down to standing up for what you believe in, and we believe in making it the authentic way, the way men drank it back in the day. That means it’s distilled to 80-proof (40% ABV), spiced and smooth.

Event Charity Announcement: Auckland RSA

The team at the Very Vintage Day Out are proud to announce that our official Event Charity is the Auckland RSA!
They will be onsite at the event with their beautiful range of poppy themed products including scarves, umbrellas, badges, shirts and of course Anzac biscuits.
There will also be an opportunity to make a donation to the Auckland RSA at the event.

Auckland RSA: 101 years of continuous comradeship

In 1916 returning Gallipoli Veterans formed the Auckland RSA on the values of practical comradeship or the ‘mates looking after mates’ principle.

The Auckland RSA remains true to the men and women of the Gallipoli generation by assisting those in need who are serving or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families and dependents.

From our beginnings, the men and women of the Auckland RSA have remembered their fallen comrades-in-arms.  We continue to honour their memory not only at the Cenotaph and in other services of commemoration in Auckland but in what we do every day.

From our beginnings, we have welcomed comrades from each successive war or conflict. The Auckland RSA was one of the few to welcome the men and women who served in Vietnam.  Today we make welcome New Zealand’s contemporary Veterans: the men and women who served in Bosnia, East Timor, Afghanistan and Iraq and all other recent deployments.
